Fire Alarms
The law requires; Where necessary in order to safeguard the safety of relevant persons the responsible person must ensure that the premises and any facilities, equipment and devices provided in respect of the premises fire alarms are subject to a suitable system of maintenance and are maintained in an efficient state, in efficient working order and in good repair.
A fire detection and alarm system should be designed, installed, commissioned and serviced to the requirements of BS5839-1.
The standard requires daily checks of the panel to identify faults in the system and weekly testing of the system from a different manual call point in rotation. Failure to carry out the daily checks or weekly tests will make the system non-compliant with that part of the standard.
Servicing by a competent person must be carried out at intervals not exceeding 6 months. Our qualified technicians carry out testing of all detection devices and panel checks required by the standard.
