Emergency Lights
The law requires; Where necessary in order to safeguard the safety of relevant persons the responsible person must ensure that the premises and any facilities, equipment and devices provided in respect of the premises emergency lights are subject to a suitable system of maintenance and are maintained in an efficient state, in efficient working order and in good repair.
Emergency Lighting systems should be designed, installed, commissioned and serviced to the requirements of BS5266.
The standard requires monthly testing of all emergency lights for 10 minutes duration.
Servicing by a competent person, carrying out a full rated battery discharge test, must be carried out at intervals not exceeding 12 months.
Certificates are issued following any routine servicing or modifications to a system.
